Intro to Handbuilding for beginners

This handbuilding course will introduce students to the core techniques used in the practise, including pinching, coiling & slab building.

with guidance from artist & ceramicist nomsa buchholz (a.k.a. dirtculturekid), participants will learn how to shape cups and bowls from clay.

including three classes (each three and a half hours long), this course takes place over the course of four weeks.

Classes 1 & 2 cover all the basics of handbuilding. students have the opportunity to play with shape & form, hone their technique and develop three pieces.

In the 3rd and final class, students are introduced to glazing, as they add a final design element to their pieces.

Dates:

Sunday the 22nd of September from 11:00 - 14:30
sunday the 29th of September from 11:00 - 14:30
sunday the 13th october from 11:00 - 14:30

this course costs €255 for three classes (10 and a half hours) and includes all materials as well as firing & gazing for up to three pieces.

6 students max.

Pieces must be fired once more after glazing, and will be available for collection 2-4 weeks following the final class.

No previous experience is required to participate in this workshop.

this course will be taught primarily in english (teacher speaks both english & german)
